Donald Trump Gives $100K Check to Controversial, Shady Veteran’s “Service Dog” Organization, The Puppy Jake Foundation; Its Founder / Director Becky Beach is a Repeat Criminal Offender & More Money From Donald Trump Is Due To Follow

 Guest post by KatieAnnieOakley

You may have heard that last week, rather than participate in the #GOP Debate, Donald Trump took his toys and went home encouraged supporters to contribute to a charity website (paid for by his political organization? Hmm…) to support Veteran’s groups. Why didn’t he appear at the debate? Well, Donald Trump had a sad, and ended up doing a #DonaldDucks of the event. Can you imagine? The #ShortFingeredVulgarian’s fee-fee’s got hurt real bad when FOX News honchos (any of ‘em, all of ‘em) just wouldn’t make that bloody “coming out of her wherever” Megyn Kelly go away for the debate! Trump wanted her to sit down and shut up. What nerve of FOX News, to stand up to him!

Josh Schoenblatt (red T-shirt) on stage in Davenport, Iowa on January 30, 2016 with two unidentified persons and “Service Dogs” accepts ceremonial check from Donald Trump.

The $100K check was the first presented of the night and the first of an implied “more to come” from Donald Trump.  Or is it from the Donald J. Trump Foundation? Well, the check is from the Donald J. Trump Foundation. However, Donald Trump, the GOP Presidential candidate prompted those donations. Hmm… I can see 50 Shades Of An IRS Audit from my front porch. And why not, when the “Service Dog” organization’s Founder has seen the inside of Iowa’s Newton Prison Program? And no, Becky – you don’t get to call it “rehab” with all your associates – call it what it was: PRISON.

So – it’s a fair question: Why did Trump select the Puppy Jake Foundation as the first organization to receive funds? In order to understand where I’m going, you have to know where I’m coming from, and you can read more about Becky Beach's criminal convictions here ( required reading). It helps to have lots of friends, connections, and acquaintances… and to be a former half-baked, 100% flake Alaskan half-term Governor’s BFF of 5 years. How could Trump have not done Due Diligence? Google is everyone’s friend. A simple background check would have shown that Becky, despite being a political mucky-muck, is no stranger to a prison cell.  Strangely, not many people know that. Find details here at that Politicalgates article.

OK, so now you’re sort of up to speed; you know that Becky Beach is well-known in Republican political circles, and a formidable fund-raiser. She can also get into your face (at 3:39) when questioned about anything to do with past fundraising events. She’s feisty, and she’s savvy. This makes her comment regarding Trump’s donation all the more curious; it’s pretty damn hard to separate Becky, dog handler & Becky of formidable political clout:

organization and for a nonprofit that's a lot of money."

The Iowa website "Random Lengths News" explained in October 2014 in detail the fact that Beach has been a Republican political operative for decades… and that she has "very close ties" to Sarah Palin and #SarahPAC. Its very clear: while Beach holds no elected office, she enjoys tremendous political power within the Republican Party and has many decades-long partisan connections. Did Beach’s organization receive preferential treatment from Donald Trump because of what they do – or because of who she is? Given Beach’s background, could one reasonably believe political agreement with Donald Trump, and presume or imply quiet promotion of him to the reticent RNC - while her Foundation benefit$? $100K can adjust many people’s attitudes… and Trump is a master schmoozer, a deal-maker. He delivered a check – what can Beach deliver for Trump? Isn’t this exactly what campaign activity looks like? Will Beach put in a good word for Trump with Karl Rove and The Powers That Be?  Will the IRS wake up and notice?

These are reasonable questions, because obviously, Donald Trump doesn’t know all the facts. Or does he? Would he have made that donation to the Puppy Jake Foundation if he’d know the following…?

Did Donald Trump know that Becky Beach is for example, a repeat criminal offender? That’s she’s served prison time?

Did Donald Trump know that 5 year old “Jack O’ Lantern” Jack - the dog seen in nearly all promotional materials as “Puppy Jake” - and perpetually at Beach’s side was not initially owned by the organization known as Puppy Jake Foundation? He was owned by Paws & Effect, another local Service Dog training center. Jack / Jake lived with Beach, long before Beach started The Puppy Jake Foundation. Note in the photos below – Jake is wearing a Paws & Effect Service Dog Vest.

The dog now known as Puppy Jake was trained through and owned by the Iowa Service Dog training organization Paws & Effect. He was born and was raised in 2010 by Iron Hill Retrievers

Did Donald Trump know that “Jack O’Lantern” Jack, aka Puppy Jake was removed from the Paws & Effect training program following an incident in February 2012, when Jake bit General Timothy Orr of the Iowa Army National Guard? That Jake is essentially a pet, being used as a fundraising gimmick, and that as a dog with previous bite history he is unsuited to any type of service dog duty?

Did Donald Trump know that Becky Beach was released from the service of Paws & Effect under strained circumstances because Beach simply could not keep dog training and its fundraising efforts separate from her political fundraising – which could lead to the very real possibility of  losing IRS non-profit status for a 501(c)3 organization?

Did Donald Trump know that Becky Beach and the Board President of the Puppy Jake Foundation , Republican operative Jeff Lamberti, came under intense media scrutiny following extremely dubious financial dealings with the "Pacific Battleship Center", another 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization which is run by Becky Beach and Jeff Lamberti?

Did Donald Trump know that Assistance Dogs International is the “Gold Standard” for The Veterans Administration for accredited Veteran Service Dog organizations, and that The Puppy Jake Foundation is NOT ACCREDITED by the ADI?

Did Donald Trump know that Becky Beach, Founder of The Puppy Jake Foundation in 2013, only last year began Dog Training Education Classes and was finally Certified as a Dog Trainer in early 2015? And that it happened only AFTER the Palin scandal broke in the media? (Trig Palin was photographed by Sarah Palin standing on his Puppy Jake Foundation “Service Dog’s” spine; a public outcry ensued, but Becky Beach never made a comment regarding the situation regarding Palin's dog).  Beach has been in business, claiming to be training service dogs and collecting money for it for several years with out a certificate. So – if Beach had no formal training - what Standards were used to train and evaluate her “Veteran’s Service Dogs” prior to that date?

A few months after gaining her certificate and just 2 weeks after the arrest of one of the owners of Canine Craze, trainers of The Puppy Jake Foundation’s dogs, Becky Beach filed paperwork with the Iowa Secretary of State to open her very own dog training organization – It’s A Dog Thing.  Seems she’s going to do it all herself!

It's obvious that Mr. Trump didn't do his due diligence regarding the Puppy Jake Foundation, or he would never have picked it as a recipient. It would seem that his donation has more to do with the world of politics than veterans. That he is more interested in raising his profile through giving lip service to veteran causes rather than seeing that the money collected goes to genuine veteran organisations.

So why Mr. Trump, is Beach still accepting donations for The Puppy Jake Foundation? And why are you going to give her more, when its clear – she’s a utter fraud?

Sarah Palin's friends, prominent Republican operatives Becky Beach and Jeff Lamberti from Iowa under fire for financially exploiting "USS battleship Iowa" non-profit group - READ THE DETAILS!

By Patrick

The year 2015 is off to an unexpected, and furious start: Sarah Palin's facebook post about their new dog "Jill Hadassah" being used as a "stepping stone" for six-year old Trig caused a massive dispute, due to Sarah Palin's usual outrageous, unreasonable response, which she has developed to an art form. We wrote about this in detail in our previous post. In this post, we also exclusively revealed that the founder of the "Puppy Jake Foundation", the new non-profit organization which supplied Sarah Palin's dog, a highly influential Republican operative called Becky (Rebecca) Beach from Iowa, has a considerable criminal record with two quite recent convictions and prison sentences. We also explained in detail Becky Beach's extensive Republican background, and her impressive connections, for example to the Bush-family.

Becky Beach and Jeff Lamberti are Sarah Palin's friends, and last year they supplied with great PR-fanfare the puppy dog "Jill"to Sarah Palin, in an apparent media stunt. Becky Beach and Sarah Palin go back a very long way. They met already in 2011, and Becky Beach was also an advisor to "ShePAC", the pro-Palin PAC which was formed by SarahPAC-Treasurer Tim Crawford.

From Sarah Palin's facebook (links HERE and HERE):

However, I do not want to talk about dogs in this post. We will come back to them at a later point! While reading about Becky Beach, I realized that there is so much to discover. There is another story which involves Becky Beach which provides fascinating insights into the unholy web of Republican politics, fundraising, consulting, conflicts of interests and money. Lots of money, actually!

The story has been the subject of extensive investigations carried out by several news outlets in Iowa in 2014. It is very newsworthy indeed, and offers deep insights into the sometimes questionable world of "non-profits." According to media outlets, the investigations started after whistleblowers came forward. Becky Beach is very much at the center of what could very well be called a fundraising scandal, although this is up for anyone's personal assessment of the details to decide. What I would like to do here is to present the facts, and then you can decide yourself how to label the events, or what to think about them.

Sometimes these stories can be are rather boring, but not this one! It really is quite exciting, and that's why I want to write about it. The details are also very educational.

We have two main participants, these are (from this 2012 article):

1. Becky Beach

2. Jeff Lamberti

The two are connected in very many ways. They both are for example the presidents of the newly founded "Puppy Jake Foundation" from Des Moines, Iowa, which is one of their connections to Sarah Palin. This new non-profit organization has become rather famous after it supplied with huge PR-efforts the puppy "Jill Hadassah " to Sarah Palin, as explained in our previous post.

But there is much more.

Both are for example also members of the board of another non-profit organization, the "Pacific Battleship Center", a "registered 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that operates the Battleship USS Iowa as a museum & education platform."

Screenshot from the Board of Directors of the "Pacific Battleship Center" - and the name of the "Honorary Chairman" also rings a bell:

One of the "vendors" of the Pacific Battleship Center is the PR-firm "Riverside Partners Inc." According to investigations by media outlets, the Pacific Battleship Center owes the PR-firm "Riverside Partners Inc." the sum of roughly $ 800,000.

The owners of Riverside Partners Inc.: Becky Beach and Jeff Lamberti.

So I do hope that I have caught your interest here!

Let'a summarize what we know so far: Becky Beach and Jeff Lamberti are at the Board of Directors of the non-profit organization "Pacific Battleship Center." At the same time, they own a PR-firm which has an outstanding balance of about $ 800,000 towards the "Pacific Battleship Center."

This already has the "smell" of unethical dealings, but as I said, everyone should form his or her own opinion about this.

Where does this enormous debt actually come from? This is where things already get quite complicated - because I could not find a "final" answer to this question.

"The Gazette" explains it as follows:

Associations can be complicated, and Lamberti's association with the USS IOWA has a couple layers.

He left the Iowa Legislature after the 2006 session, and that year ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Congress, he said.

The next year or so, he formed Riverside Partners with Becky Beach of Des Moines, who worked in the Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations and on Republican campaigns in Iowa since then, including Lamberti's Congressional campaign.

Riverside Partners was designed as a political consulting and fundraising business, Lamberti said.

By 2009 and 2010, Riverside Partners was hired by the USS IOWA not-for-profit organization for consulting and fundraising help. Later, Lamberti became the unpaid chairman of the USS Iowa museum board and Beach the unpaid board's secretary.

Lamberti said the challenge to save the USS IOWA became acute in the past few years when the U.S. Navy wanted the not-for-profit to take possession of the ship and the organization was running out of money.

At that point, the Iowa Legislature provided a $3 million grant, and Lamberti said he personally guaranteed a $300,000 loan to contribute to the effort to refurbish the battleship, tow it to Los Angeles harbor and open it as a museum. Every year he pays interest on the loan, which has now amounted to $20,000 to $30,000, so the battleship museum doesn't face the expense.

According the battleship not-for-profit's 2012 tax return, the organization has the $300,000 outstanding obligation to Lamberti and a $500,000 one to Riverside Partners.

Lamberti said the latter is for consulting work that he and Beach did previously for the organization.

OK, so here is my first question: It says in the article the Lamberti "personally guaranteed a $ 300,000 loan." What exactly does that mean? Did he provide the money himself?

Although Lamberti pays interest, "$ 20,000 to 30,000" so far, the article continues to say:

Lamberti said he and Beach agreed to reduce the amount they are owed, though he said it is unclear if the ship museum, which has been opened less than two years, ever will be able to pay them. He said he hopes to see the not-for-profit pay off the principal on the $300,000 loan, but not the interest.

So now he doesn't want the interest? And they also want to "reduce the amount?" Oh well, I guess they suddenly realized that a consulting fee of $ 500,000 for a non-profit organization which you run yourself might seem...pretty outrageous, to say the least?

But if you think that this is everything, you are mistaken indeed.

Strangely, an extensive investigation by CBS 2 News revealed that the IRS-filing of "Riverside Partners Inc." for 2012 lists the $ 300,000 as well as the $ 500,000 as "loans":

Lamberti and a woman named Becky Beach are partners in an Iowa corporation called Riverside Partners, Inc.; a for-profit entity according to filings with the Iowa Secretary of State. Battleship Iowa hired them for fundraising services in 2010.

Fast forward to 2012, CBS 2 News has learned through a 2012 IRS filing by Battleship Iowa that the now Chairman of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, Jeff Lamberti, guaranteed a loan to the non-profit in the amount of $300,000. On the same filing, Lamberti and Beachs company, Riverside Partners Inc, is listed with a $500,000 loan to the non-profit. Riverside Partners and Battleship Iowa say that money is owed for services they previously provided.

How shady can it get!

In the "Financial Statements" of the group for 2012 and 2013, the following is mentioned about the loans (download the report HERE):

FURTHER ADDITION:

After checking the form for the tax returns 2013 for the Pacific Battleship Center, I saw that a little miracle has happened: According to the form, a written agreement for the loans now suddenly exists!

I think this has to be divine intervention...

So what is the debt of $ 500,000 now for? For consulting fees, or for a loan? Becky Beach and Jeff Lamberti seem to rather uncertain about this point.

If this was not all strange enough, it gets even weirder.

Jeff Lamberti was the chairman of the "Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission" from June 2012 to April 2014.

So, why not ask casinos in Iowa to donate money to the "Pacific Battleship Center?" Now, after Jeff Lamberti has been appointed the chairman of their most important commission, the casinos might open their wallets even more willingly...?

(Which would be especially nice if the "Pacific Battleship Center" personally owes you hundreds of thousands of dollars).

Well, this is exactly what Becky Beach did: She started to ask the casinos for money. If there is one thing teabaggers are REALLY good at, then it's finding out how to get the cash. It's in their genes, I guess.

The Iowa media outlet "Random Lenghts News" made a huge investigation into this issue - screenshots from their print version, with two familiar faces:

Excerpt from the article:

This past May, a Cedar Rapids, Iowa newspaper, The Gazette, published a series of stories regarding the Gaming and Casinos commission April 17 vote on whether to grant a proposed Cedar Rapids casino a state gaming license. Lamberti, who voted no with the majority 4-1, against the proposal, has been dogged by conflict of interest allegations ever since.

The allegations center on donations made to the Pacific Battleship Center by two casinos that opposed the Cedar Rapids venture.

Lamberti has repeatedly denied the allegations, saying that the four commissioners who voted against the proposal as a result of the findings of two independent studies that a Cedar Rapids casino would damage nearby casinos.

CBS 2 News explained the details of the donations from casinos to the "Pacific Battleship Center", which apparently only started after Jeff Lamberti was appointed chairman of the commission:

2012 is also the first year money comes to Battleship Iowa from Iowa casinos. According to Battleship Iowa, since 2012, donations from Iowa casinos have totaled $250,000.
(Video of the TV-report is HERE)

"Random Lengths News" reported:

According public records, the Williams Knapp Foundation donated $35,000 to the Pacific Battleship Center, while Riverside Casino CEO, Dan Kehl donated $100,000 to the Battleship Center in 2012 through the Kehl Family Foundation. Local news outlets in Iowa at the time reported that Prairie Meadows and Riverside Casino together donated $110,000 just before the April 17 vote. The connection between these monies and the Gaming Casino Commission vote has never been made clear.

I do not know whether the money from casinos influenced any decisions, as discussed for example in the article by "Random Lenghts News" quoted above. But much more relevant is the obvious fact that this type of fundraising undoubtedly has the huge smell of being unethical, due to the fact that Jeff Lamberti and Becky Beach expected to be paid hundreds of thousands of dollars himself by the Pacific Battleship Center, while being board members at the same time.

But now Lamberti is not so sure anymore whether he wants the money. He now denies that he personally wants to receive money from the "Pacific Battleship Center", although from his explanations, I am not sure what he really wants to express:

Lamberti told The Gazette, at the time, that any fundraising fees related to contributions from casino interests may go to Beach working on her own, but none have or will go to him, even though they are the principals of Riverside Partners.

“We’ve been very careful to make sure that if there are any of those activities (casino contributions), there is a complete wall between me and those funds,” Lamberti said. “And those (casino) funds can never be used to pay Riverside Partners.”

CBS 2 News was apparently also confused by these statements and followed up in an interview with Lamberti:

Mr. Lamberti is out of town, but CBS2/FOX28 spoke to him via phone today.

He insists his personal loan would never be paid with casino money given to the ship. CBS2/FOX28S Tiffany ODonnell asked, How do you know? Lamberti replied, Because thats what I did when I secured that loan, and everyone is under the understanding that thats the policy of the board and quite frankly, I would never be allowed to be repaid out of those funds, because we have been very careful about keeping a wall between anything that's related to casino interest and anything that would relate to me.

Tiffany then asked, Is that documented somewhere? Lamberti replied, You know, I dont know that its specifically documented. Its certainly the understanding of everybody on the Board, and of course I would never accept it.

He says the same is true for the $500,000 outstanding balance owed to his company with Ms. Beach, Riverside Partners, Inc. Much like anything owed to me, that would never be paid out of gaming money, said Lamberti.
(Video of the TV-report is HERE)

Screenshot from CBS 2 News:

So Lamberti basically stated that although he owns Riverside Partners Inc. together with Becky Beach, he does not want to accept casino money. But how do you separate the casino money from the other money which the "Pacific Battleship Center" receives...? I mean, money is money, right, it goes all in one big pot, am I correct? If I am not correct, then I would more be happy for Becky Beach or Jeff Lamberti to explain it to me, because I did not understand this statement by Jeff Lamberti at all.

CBS 2 News also spoke with Becky Beach, and she made things even more confusing with her own statement (from the transcript):

Then there's the question of who was doing the asking for the donations in the first place.

While Riverside Partners was hired to fundraise, Beach says she did it on her own.

Tiffany asked Beach Did you ask those casinos in 2012 for the initial donations?

Beach replied, You bet.

And that had nothing to do with Riverside Partners.

Tiffany asked, So how does that work? You guys are partners.

Beach replied, Let me tell you how it works. I send the ship an invoice from me and they send me a 1099 and I pay taxes directly on the money I receive from them. It doesnt go through Riverside Partners, it goes directly to me personally.
(Video of the TV-report is HERE)

Screenshot from CBS 2 News:

OK, I see. It was Becky Beach who asked the casinos for the donations, no surprise there.

But: EXCUSE ME? The money which is owed to Riverside Partners now suddenly goes to Becky Beach "personally", it "doesn't go through Riverside Partners" any more...?

Well, good for Becky Beach! That's what I would call "extreme creative book-keeping." I am not an accountant, but I would bet quite a bit of money that things do not work like that.

This is what we know so far about this affair, you could call it "Battleship-Gate", and it should also be noted that the mentioned amount of about $ 800,000 is not everything, as "Random Lengths News" explained in their first article of this investigation, from October 2014:

Salazar forwarded a list of Pacific Battle Center vendors that were paid between 2008 and 2014. On that list, board President Jeff Lamberti and board Secretary Rebecca Beach were paid $17,037.82 and $102,146.07, respectively. The document does not reflect when those monies were paid or for what services those monies were paid. But generally, board members of a nonprofit organization are not paid positions.

These two board members are important for another reason. Lamberti, who is gaming commissioner in the State of Iowa recently came under scrutiny for his votes favoring casinos that donated to the USS Iowa. Beach is Lambert’s business partner with whom he formed Riverside Partners, a political consulting and fundraising firm. Riverside Partners was also listed as one of the USS Iowa’s vendors. Read more about this in the next edition of Random Lengths.

(Article No. 2 is HERE and No. 3 is HERE)

So, the "unpaid" board members Becky Beach and Jeff Lamberti actually already received payments, as "vendors." It is not clear when they were paid, according the Random Lengths, and not even clear for what services. It is more than obvious that these open questions alone demand an official investigation - as does the issue as a whole, with the additional "loans" of $ 300,000 and $ 500,000 from Riverside Partners, and the donations of $ 250,000 from the casinos to the "Pacific Battleship Center" while Jeff Lamberti was the chairman of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.

No surprise that Becky Beach and Sarah Palin are best friends. They both have an uncanny talent to spot where the funds can be found. ;-)

Most of the details which I have mentioned are summarized in the quoted report by CBS 2 News (the transcript is HERE):

Usually, in these circumstances, an official investigation should follow. Maybe it will? But I guess that in "Republicaland" you can get away with a lot these days.

Next will then probably follow the chapter about dogs and humans in Iowa, the famous country with the infamous Republican operatives.

EXCLUSIVE: Sarah Palin is "palling around" with criminals - Her "friend" Becky Beach, founder of the "Puppy Jake Foundation", who supplied Palin's dog "Jill", the now famous "stepping stone" for Trig, is a convicted criminal with recent prison sentences - READ THE DETAILS!

Sarah Palin knows how to blame other people for their "associations." She believes that this is fair game.

Quote from an interview of Sarah Palin with Bill O'Reilly from 2009 - watch the clip:

"I believe it's not off-base or negative campaigning to call someone
out on their associations"

For example, just several months ago, in a facebook post from March 2014, Sarah Palin accused President Obama of "palling around with a Cop-Killer Advocate":

Apart from that, Sarah Palin is also the Queen of outrage, which she proved again today in her response to PETA on facebook, in the now infamous "Doghazi" affair. Sarah Palin found it cute that Trig used their recently acquired dog "Jill Hadassah" as a "stepping stone."

As you will certainly all know by now, the whole affair was caused by this facebook post by Sarah Palin from January 1, 2015:

Many people criticized Sarah Palin for this terrible facebook post, including PETA President Ingrid Newkirk, who called Sarah Palin a "bizarrely callous woman", and who could disagree with this assessment.

Sarah Palin today responded on facebook with an epic word salad to the accusations, and yes, Sarah Palin is the victim, as usual, in her opinion. Oh, and President Obama would have probably eaten the dog, according to Palin. And Ellen DeGeneres is apparently just as bad as Sarah....says Sarah:

So, there the story ends. Or does it? Wait a moment. Let's take a closer look, shall we?

The puppy came from the "Puppy Jake Foundation" in Des Moines, Iowa. Sarah Palin proudly announced this on facebook herself, and called the founder of the foundation, Becky Beach, her "friend." Screenshot:

That's not even everything! Already in a post from April 28, 2014, Sarah Palin proudly posed with Becky Beach:

See also this article from the Iowa station whotv.com with more pictures of Sarah Palin together with Becky Beach. According to the article, another visitor to the "Jake Puppy Foundation" by the way was Utah Senator Mike Lee, the most famous teabagger in the US Senate, next to Ted Cruz.

Becky Beach is a very influential GOP-fundraiser, with deep ties to the Bush-family. The Des Moines Register mentioned her as an operative in 2012 in their list of "The Iowa Caucuses 50 Most Wanted":

Well, knowing that Sarah Palin is so big on the "associations" of others, we also know another thing: If there is one thing that teabaggers do not like, then it is "background checks." Usually for good reason, actually. So why not make a little background check of Becky Beach, just for fun?

Let me state clearly that all the information that follows has been obtained from public websites. I provide all the links.

The full name of Becky Beach is Rebecca Smith Beach. She was born on June 12, 1956. Her address is publicly available and has been posted multiple times on the internet, especially in connection with making PR for the Puppy Jake Foundation, which Becky Beach founded in 2013:

HERE:

HERE:

The identity and birth date of Becky Beach has also been confirmed to us through other sources.

So, what shall we do now? Well, why not take a look in the Iowa Court records?

Searching in State Court Records can always be a bit tricky, so here is how it works in this case:

1. Go to the government website "Iowa Courts."

2. Click on "Start A Case Search Here!"

3. Click on "Trial Court" - "Case Search"

4. Search for "Rebecca" (first name) "Beach" (last name), type in the captcha at the bottom of the page and click "Search"

After you have done that, you will see quite a number of entries for Becky Beach, born on June 12, 1956, full name Rebecca Smith Beach:

Well, these are certainly all just small traffic violations, right...?

Oh no, Sir, quite to the contrary.

Yes, Becky Beach received severe prison sentences, and was also a repeat offender.

And not many decades ago, but very recently.

The interesting entries here are in particular:

05771 OWOM064820 STATE VS REBECCA SMITH BEACH

Which brings you to the set of her "first offences" - here is an overview (click on "filings"):

That's already pretty serious, but there is more, because Becky Beach promptly broke the law again and violated her probation, as detailed in the following entry:

05771 OWOM066282 STATE VS REBECCA SMITH BEACH

From we can see, Becky Beach received severe prison sentences (one year as well as two years), which were mostly, but not completely suspended, and also violated her probation, with the proceedings happening in 2008 and 2009. She apparently also received treatment for "substance abuse."

All the charges seem to based in driving repeatedly under the influence of "substances", although it is not clear to me what exactly these substances were. Maybe people with more experience in reading these judicial filings can comment on this.

ADDED: Here are the Penalty Guidelines for OWI's in Iowa.

That's why you should choose your friends wisely, Sarah.

Especially if you are so keen on other people's "associations."

You know, maybe there will be more to find, if one looks more closely into "Puppy Jake Foundation"...?

But for today, this should suffice.

UPDATE:

Due to our great readers, we discovered that the friendship between Sarah Palin and Becky Beach goes back a long way!

(h/t Veneficia & NJfan)

Sarah Palin and Becky Beach were already on close terms in June 2011 - the local news reported back then:

URBANDALE, Iowa —Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she's still thinking about whether to run for president, and she dismissed comments from her daughter that she'd already made up her mind.

Palin arrived Tuesday afternoon in downtown Pella to attend the first public screening of "The Undefeated," a film about her rise in politics. A throng of supporters chanted her name and urged her to run for president outside the Pella Opera House, where roughly 350 people packed the theater.

Palin told reporters that a remark Tuesday morning in a television interview by her daughter, Bristol, that she'd made up her mind was inaccurate. She said deciding to run for president is a "tough decision" and she's not ready to announce her intentions.

The opera house's interim director, Beth Hill, said the event is the most logistically complicated the theater has ever hosted. She found out last week that the filmmakers had chosen the venue for the film's debut out of 100 other spots, and she's been working nonstop getting ready.

The Palins are expected to attend a barbecue with about 1,000 residents in a courtyard outside the opera house afterward.

Palin Lunch At Panera

Some lunch-goers got a surprise when they turned around in line and saw Palin in a Panera in Urbandale on Tuesday.

Todd and Sarah Palin are in Iowa for the premiere of a documentary on Palin to first be shown in Pella Tuesday night. The couple stopped at the Panera Bread store on 86th Street in Urbandale and were swarmed by lunch patrons, reported TheIowaRepublican.com.

Todd and Sarah Palin had lunch with longtime Iowa fundraiser Becky Beach and her dog Jake. Also joining the Palins was Moe Sinclair, who owns the Panera stores in Iowa and other surrounding states, reported TheIowaRepublican.com.

UPDATE 2:

The Iowa website "Random Lengths News" explained in October 2014 in detail the fact that Becky Beach has been a Republican political operative for decades, and that she worked with ShePAC, the brainchild of SarahPAC treasurer Tim Crawford and that she has "very close ties" to Sarah Palin and SarahPAC:

Becky Beach Pals Around in Conservative Circles

Rebecca “Becky” Beach, the Pacific Battleship Center’s Board Secretary, is a fundraiser, event planner and consultant, but her political connections run deep and more extensive than Lamberti’s though she has never had public office.

Beach served as a personal assistant to former First Lady Barbara Bush since George H.W. Bush began running for the 1980 presidency of the United States. Though Bush didn’t win that election, Beach went on to become the Ronald Reagan administration’s liaison to the U.S. Department of Energy.

After working in the Reagan and Bush administrations, Becky returned to her home state in 1993 and worked in the Iowa Senate from 1995-2007. In 1997 she became administrative assistant to the president of the Iowa Senate – first for Sen. Mary Kramer and then for Sen. Jeff Lamberti.

During this same time, Beach worked on George W. Bush’s 2000 campaign for president, handling scheduling and event planning.

After 11 years in the Iowa Senate, Beach formed her own company, RSB Associates. The company continues to do political work and has added non-profit clients and issue advocacy groups.

Beach is a national advisor with ShePac and has very close ties to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her political action committee, called SarahPac. ShePac was set up to help Republican women get elected to office, as well as, shore up Republican Party’s image to women.

SarahPac aims to elect candidates that subscribe to Palin’s brand of conservatism, which promotes a hawkish foreign policy grounded in “American Exceptionalism.”

Beach’s current projects include the Puppy Jake Foundation, Terrace Hill Restoration project, On with Life capital campaign, the arena Iowa Barnstormers (arena football team), the Pacific Battleship Center, and Paws and Effect foundation.

She is currently on the Finance Committee for the George W. Bush Library Center in Dallas.

Beach’s resume is extensive, but it should be understood that she comes from a political family.

Beach is the granddaughter of Mary Louis Smith, one of Iowa’s most famous figures — the first woman ever to lead the national Republican establishment. In 1971, Vice President Gerald Ford appointed her to chair the Republican National Committee. During that time as chairwoman, she helped revive an organization that “had been smashed earlier that year with (Richard) Nixon’s resignation in the Watergate scandal,” as the New York Times Magazine would observe after Smith’s death in 1997.

Smith worked hard to make the GOP more inclusive as it moved to the right by supporting affirmative action and the Equal Rights Amendment. After naming her vice chair of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission in 1982, Reagan didn’t reappoint her.

"ShePAC" was in fact nothing more than a Sarah Palin fanclub:

UPDATE 3:

Becky Beach's grandmother was a hugely prominent Republican and former chairwoman of the RNC, interestingly a social liberal, also active in Planned Parenthood - from Wikipedia (h/t HopeforAmerica):

Mary Louise Smith (October 6, 1914–August 22, 1997), a U.S. political organizer and women's rights activist, was the second woman to become chairwoman of a major political party in the United States.

Born Mary Louise Epperson in Eddyville, Iowa, she married medical student Elmer M. Smith while both were studying at the University of Iowa. She graduated in 1935 with a degree in social work administration and worked for the Iowa Employment Relief Administration in Iowa City.

After moving to Eagle Grove she became active in civic life and Republican Party politics. She became membership chair of the Iowa Council of Republican Women in 1961 and was elected vice-chairwoman of the Wright County Republican Central Committee the following year. She was elected national committeewoman for Iowa in 1964, a post she held for the next twenty years.

In 1974, during the wake of the Watergate scandal, President Gerald Ford named her the first, and as of 2011 the only, female chairwoman of the Republican National Committee. She held that post until 1977, and in that role became the first woman of her party, and second woman of a major party, to organize a presidential nominating convention, the 1976 Republican National Convention in Kansas City. In 1977, she was inducted in the Iowa Women's Hall of Fame. In 1978, she served as Co-Manager of the Committee for Governor Ray in the successful fourth re-election campaign of Iowa Governor Robert D. Ray.

She campaigned for George H. W. Bush in the 1980 primaries, but supported Ronald Reagan both in the 1980 and 1984 general elections. Reagan appointed her vice-chairwoman of the United States Commission on Civil Rights in 1981, but declined to re-appoint her in 1984. Smith was a social liberal, while the party and the electorate was shifting to the right.

Smith was active in such organizations as the Republican Mainstream Committee, Iowa Women's Political Caucus, U.S. Peace Institute, and Planned Parenthood of Greater Iowa. She was a staunch advocate of the Equal Rights Amendment. In 1995, Iowa State University established the Mary Louise Smith Chair in Women and Politics in her honor, and numerous other awards and recognitions are named for her throughout the state.

Smith died of lung cancer in Des Moines at the age of 82. A widow, she was survived by three children.

UPDATE 4:

I would like to make a further update, because it has been suggested in the comments that convictions due to DUI (called OWI in Iowa) are very common, that "a lot of people" get them. While we all agreed in the comments that a DUI conviction is not a "minor" offence, I still felt compelled to follow up on the statistics, because I was interested myself to see how common these convictions actually are. The results are pretty revealing.

I looked at the statistics for Iowa as the state in question here. All the information is available online. The state of Iowa has a website with the statistics for the most important crimes for the year 2009 HERE.

Examples (using the exact terminology provided by the Iowa state government website):

Motor Vehicle Theft: 3986 offenses

Fraud: 5320 incidents

Intimidation: 4976 victims

Weapon Law Violations: 971 incidents

Drug/Narcotic violations: 10453 offenses

Robbery: 1191 offenses

Domestic Violence: 6341 incidents

Let us now take a look in comparison to the number of OWI offenses in Iowa.

The Iowa Department for Human Rights published the statistics for OWI offenses.

For 2009, the statistics are as follows (click to enlarge):

Becky Beach was convicted in 2009 after violating her probation for the following offense, as a second offender, according to the Iowa state records:

Therefore we can see from that statistics that Becky Beach was one of 3154 people sentenced in Iowa for this crime in 2009.

Apart from that, only 830 people committed a more serious form of OWI in Iowa in 2009.

In comparison to the other crime statistics mentioned above, it is obvious in my view that no real difference to the number other committed crimes is visible. Also for this reason, I personally do not see why a DUI/OWI conviction should be regarded differently from other offenses. In addition, it is a very dangerous crime, as other innocent people could get easily get injured or even killed.
