The disaster, it has happened

By Patrick

Well, it is happened, the Americans have elected a vindictive racist narcissistic moron into the most important position in the world, with the power the blow the whole world up, and what could now possibly go wrong?

I am very angry, because I believe that many sides are to blame for this catastrophic result, and as I am not connected to any US party, I feel free to speak my mind.

This has been in the making for decades, and ever since the word "Liberal" became an insult in the eyes of many, the American democracy has been in great danger. Nobody knows this better than the Germans.

In Germany, we were once confronted with the fact that the minds of a large part of the population had been poisoned, and these people then also motivated a lot of other people to vote for an evil person. The results were catastrophic, as well all know.

The parallels to Nazi-Germany are too obvious. In Germany, it was the right-wing Hugenberg press-empire which made Adolf Hitler respectable, and in the USA, it was Fox News in particular as well as many right-wing radio shows all around the country which made extreme right-wing views respectable.

Yes, this election was manipulated, by Russian hackers, Wikileaks and Mr. Comey, but it is a huge failure of the political system as a whole that a flawed candidate like Donald Trump was possible in the first place.

Donald Trump cannot act within a democracy, because his twisted and sick mind does not allow it. He can only function as a dictator. If he does not become the "American Putin", I will eat my hat.

Moderate Republicans should have stopped Trump, but they were far too self-absorbed and could not commit to one strong candidate to run against Trump. Then, the #NeverTrump people could not bring themselves to vote for Hillary and wasted their votes as a result.

The Democrats obviously lost their connection to a large part of their traditional base, which is terrible.

Not enough was also done against the destruction of the middle class - now many of them turned to an extremist.

I am also very upset that Barack Obama continued to expand the surveillance state, with the naive belief that this monstrous surveillance machine would only be used for justified actions. It should have been more than obvious that this machine can also be abused, and I am pretty certain that Donald Trump's domestic enemies will get "first impressions" of this fact pretty soon. With the available surveillance technology, virtually everybody is an open book, as all communications can be easily monitored, and real privacy has become virtually impossible. Good luck with that.

This might not be a popular view, but I really don't care, sorry: It was a huge mistake in my opinon to construct and expand this huge surveillance machine. It will soon be in the hands of Donald Trump and his ruthless extreme right-wing allies. They surely will put it to "good use."

What else is there to say? There really is little hope. It will not be bad, it will be worse. Many Americans will suffer, and probably many people abroad as well. History tells us that people like Donald Trump are hell-bent to start wars, and I do not believe that Trump will be the exception.

Democracy in the USA will soon become a travesty. This is inevitable. The most important features, like the free media and free speech, will be under real threat, no doubt about it,

The media failed as well, as we have often discussed in the comments. They can now become his claqueurs, because much more won't be possible any more.

The prophecy by H. L. Mencken from 1920, it finally became true:

The larger the mob, the harder the test. In small areas, before small electorates, a first-rate man occasionally fights his way through, carrying even the mob with him by force of his personality. But when the field is nationwide, and the fight must be waged chiefly at second and third hand, and the force of personality cannot so readily make itself felt, then all the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre — the man who can most easily adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum.

The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Rebecca Schoenkopf at Wonkette has some harsh words for her fellow citizens.

Many people don't know yet what will hit them. They will know it pretty soon.

I feel very sorry for the good Americans who are now caught up in this mess. This should have been avoided.

The hostile takeover of a stricken monster: Donald Trump now owns the GOP, and will now try to bully himself into the White House - BONUS: Say goodbye to "GOP dropout" Ted Cruz!

By Patrick

So now have the situation where only Hillary Clinton stands between peace and world chaos. Well done, GOP! You as a party have successfully dug your own grave, and every sane person can now only pray that the voters won't be dumb enough to vote for Donald Trump in the general election.

What I personally find incredibly strange that our "main subject" over the years, this woman called Sarah Palin, who already as a politician was as dead as one can be, has now been "resurrected" once again, by being very close to the designated GOP candidate. This feels just incredibly surreal.

Of course it was nice to see that Sarah actually did not help Trump at all during the campaign so far, just the opposite. She merely made headlines for giving weird and disjointed speeches, and turned GOP voters off. Still, it feels strange. But in any case, if anyone can stop Donald Trump, it is probably Sarah Palin.

I personally do not believe that voters will be dumb enough to give Donald Trump a majority, but this is definitely not totally impossible. Propaganda and demagoguery can be very, very effective, and just like Donald Trump bullied his way through the GOP primary, he will try to bully his way into the White House.

It is good to see that Hillary Clinton fights back with very effective campaign adverts, as well as forceful speeches. She tweeted for example an amazingly hard-hitting advert, in which Trump was slammed by his Republican colleagues, and I also uploaded this clip to Youtube, for easier sharing:

One of the biggest problems during this GOP primary was the fact that Donald Trump was given huge amounts of free time by the US media. He did not have to run an expensive campaign, as he was given virtually all the PR he needed for free.

The MSNBC-show "Morning Joe" played a particularly bad role in this respect, and it was refreshing to see how "Morning Joe" and his panel was called out by filmmaker Rob Reiner:

In one of the most revealing articles ever about Donald Trump, "Politico" today published a very long list about Donald Trump's statements and glaring contradictions over the years:

By the way, several months ago, "Vanity Fair" already created a terrifying "White House" parody video with Donald Trump - the puppets seem just too real:

If that's not giving you nightmares, I don't know what will! ;-)

So, what else? Oh yes, the

BONUS!!!

Say goodbye to Ted Cruz! It is important to watch the complete video for the full benefit:

The USA will now face the ultimate test - My thoughts for the weekend

By Patrick

"The racists and the white supremacists never had anybody they could vote for, now they do."
(Quote by Kathleen, 5 minutes ago)

The time has come to find out how strong US democracy really is. A right-wing extremist candidate who successfully disguised himself as a Republican will soon be crowned the GOP-candidate for the most important position in the world, and we all witnessed how this happened, and who is to blame. As was already apparent when Sarah Palin became a political "star" eight years ago, the US media is ill-equipped to deal with extreme candidates. For the media, it's entertainment first, and politics second. Donald Trump undoubtedly provides great entertainment. It should therefore come as no surprise that the media grants interviews to Donald Trump on a daily basis.

The problem is that a large part of the US population now believes that the madman Donald Trump is actually a viable candidate. How many Americans really believe that, remains to be seen, however, the number is certainly growing rapidly. Donald Trump exploited the media far better than his GOP-opponents, and they paid the price. He needed to spend very little on advertisement, because he usually received it for free, courtesy of the gracious US media.

There the USA will now face the ultimate test. If things go the wrong way, then political and economical chaos will follow. It is virtually impossible to imagine the horrific consequences of a Trump-presidency.

One might think that it is impossible that Donald Trump becomes President of the United States. I am far from certain, because "radical" ideas, once they become "mainstream", can develop a very special attraction. Well, a "fatal attraction", so to speak. Easy solutions for simple minds. And let's face it, there are a lot of "simple minds", everywhere, in every country! Why listen to complicated policy ideas when you can just "build a wall"....?

One of the worst things is the fact that Donald Trump has so far been pretty successful by being an obnoxious and racist bully, who openly encouraged violence against protesters, and who has no hesitation to insult and demean his opponents. Nobody was really prepared for that, and nobody has found the antidote yet. Now it will be Hillary's task to save the world. I can only wish her lots of luck, because she will need it.

Kathleen and I will be away over the weekend - have a great weekend, and have fun commenting, everybody!

PLEASE NOTE:

Apparently an advert can be seen between the post and the comments. We cannot see it, because we use Adblock Plus (click link to install) on our browsers, and this very useful browser-extension is available for all the main browsers.

I do not know what exactly is going on, as in the past adverts could only be enabled by the blog owners. However, we have not enabled adverts and also receive no benefit from them. Blogger is a Google-company, and blog owners can enable "Google AdSense" in order to make money with adverts, but we have not done this.

EDIT:

Our reader "Endless Summer" alerted us to the fact that this is actually a new problem with Disqus. I now tried to change the Disqus-settings, and the adverts should now disappear. However, it is possible that this won't work straight away. Again, I strongly advise to use Adblock Plus.

People all over the internet today have the same problem, as Disqus quietly changed the settings - adverts are now enabled by default.

Donald Trump on "Meet the Press" with Chuck Todd: The world is so unfair to Americans, but now comes the Donald to fix everything, and he will bully the world into submission

By Patrick

OK, I just listened to the extensive new interview with Donald Trump on "Meet the Press", where Trump talks to Chuck Todd, and the interview is truly revealing. However, it is not really worth to get into too much detail, because the pattern is always the same: It's Donald Trump and the USA against the rest of the world. Also, he is still a Obama-birther, can you believe it.

Chuck Todd was doing a pretty good job during this interview in my opinion, but he avoided to talk about a few "hot issues" in detail, for example about the Fox News controversy and the "Mexico sends us their rapists" controversy.

Basically, if you want to turn the USA into a fascist nation, then Donald Trump has to be your first choice. He wants to take on everybody, friends and foes alike: Iran, Asia in general, China, ISIS, Europe (Germany in particular), Russia, Saudi Arabia, Mexico - and these are only the countries he actually names in the interview!

There seems to be no country in the world that the Donald does actually like. Also, according to Trump, the world should reimburse the USA, for all the great things the country is doing all over the world.

This interview is truly shocking. It does not bother Trump at all that his explanations are full of contradictions, and devoid of any knowledge about world affairs. The only thing that the Donald knows is that virtually all other countries in the world are out to get the USA and want to do harm to the USA, for selfish reasons, of course. According to him, lots of other countries steal jobs from Americans, and of course he will take the jobs back to the USA (how he will do this, remains his secret).

Trump also wants to invade Iraq again in order to fight ISIS, and of course it would totally pay for itself, because the USA will pay this new war with the oil they will...well, loot, after the invasion. Trump is not bothered by the fact that this concept already failed once before.

Also, what will the people of Iraq will think about the fact that the USA wants to claim their oil? Trump does not care, as he does not care about anyone else, apart from Donald Trump. The world of Donald Trump is a very simple world.

So, if you want a big American bully for President, then Donald Trump is your first choice.

He also blatantly lied about Ronald Reagan in this interview, in order to paint himself as a great Republican, saying the he liked Ronald Reagan, and Ronald Reagan liked him.

I really wished that a journalist would confront Donald Trump one day with this excerpt from his 1989 book "The Art of the Deal", in which Trump compared Ronald Reagan to a con man and ridiculed him, stating that seven years after Reagan's election "people are beginning to question whether there's anything beneath that smile."

On abortion, women won't have much too smile about under a Trump administration, as their right to choose would virtually vanish, but do not despair, because at least Trump knows "the importance of women." In Trumps world, they surely are incredibly important, because from time to time every man needs to stick in his dick into something, and women come in handy in this respect, especially since they also look very nice and can be shown around (I hope I do not need a SNARK sign here...).

What else was there? Yes, Donald Trump doesn't like NATO either, and these lazy Germans are not leading regarding the Russia/Ukraine conflict, according to Trump. Apparently, he does either not know or not care about the fact that the Germans and other European nations were in fact leading in brokering a peace deal in February 2015, in order to avoid an European war, but I guess that in Donald Trump's world, peace is simply a very boring thing. We want the fireworks, and the total submission of the enemy! USA, USA, TRUMP, TRUMP!

Watch the interview:

BONUS:

NBC also has a "bonus-clip" with Chuck Todd on Donald Trump's place, in which Trump explains his insane "immigration plan."

In case you didn't know yet, "Mexico should pay for the wall."

Also, all the illegal immigrants "have to go."

So, apart from taking on virtually the whole world, Donald Trump will also deport 13 million people from the USA.

Sounds like a winning concept, for sure.

UPDATE:

Just a few days ago, the BBC conducted an excellent interview with famous British TV-presenter Selina Scott, and her shocking experiences with Donald Trump. This clip is an absolute must-see, and unfortunately only received little attention so far.

Watch the clip:

More background:

A scary misogynist who sees nothing wrong in stalking somebody/anybody with his ridiculous opinions of himself. As Scott says in today's Sunday Times, Megyn Kelly got off lightly compared to her - she says he has an ego "the size of the Empire State" and "is as ridiculous as his thatch of hair". BBC TV presenter Selina Scott has had problems with Donald Trump for a long time - since 1995.

It all began when Ms Scott broadcast what she calls a "realistic" profile of the business tycoon, who is now running for US president. (This DVD was sent anonymously to councillors in Aberdeenshire to warn them what they were getting into if Trump were to purchase land for a golf course - which they ignored). He then started sending her letters rubbishing her looks and questioning her morality, and still brought it up years later, she told the BBC's Newsnight.

In a new interview, Sarah Palin declares that she will run for President...or maybe not, who knows? Todd, do you know? Todd, I am talking to you??? UPDATE: Cassandra Wain divorced Dakota Meyer because he displayed troubling signs of PTSD

By Patrick

We have had so much entertainment during the last few weeks, so let's get some more where this came from, shall we.

Sarah Palin has turned the "act of teasing to run for President" into an art form, and now we are being offered another version of "I might just run! Maybe, well, you don't know!", because it's apparently such a hit show!

Last Saturday website "Extra TV" conducted an interview with Sarah Palin on the historic battleship USS Iowa, which is anchored in Los Angeles. On Monday, the website published the part of the interview which dealt with the cancelled marriage between Bristol Palin and Dakota Meyer.

Today, Extra TV published another part of the interview, in which they ask Sarah what she thinks about the Republican presidential candidates so far, and whether she will run for President herself.

Well, her answer developed into one of her very famous word salads, and it is almost admirable how she at first made it seem that she REALLY MAYBE will run for President. However, after being put on the spot by the reporter, she then immediately took it all back again, leaving everybody confused, although some of her fans will be overjoyed, without any doubt. Doesn't it sound like she will run? Doesn't it???

Sarah's main "job" these days is trying to attract donors to SarahPAC, and she really tries to go all the way. Yes, MAYBE she will run, and like she says, "NOW IS THE TIME" to make "SACRIFICES", to "PUT YOURSELF FORWARD"....if, well if it wasn't such a "huge commitment", and if there weren't all these things in the way, like "family", "time" and "resources", as Sarah helpfully explains.

Also, Todd, standing next to her, is of no help at all.

Go to the page of Extra TV to watch the clip, as it is not possible to embed it.

Typically Sarah truly is a "hot mess", as our readers like to call her.
Her word-salad sing-sang voice is truly unique, we give her that. She truly is the Sarah Palin of all the Sarah Palin's in the world.

The Palin-fans, they need to be kept happy, and they desperately need to open their wallets.

Yes, "commensense conservatives", give your money to Sarah, she really, really needs it!!!

OK, what is missing here? Oh yes, a screenshot from the interview! And what a screenshot that is! Please make good use of it, folks!

We are having way too much fun again:

UPDATE:

The Daily Mail  today revealed that a close friend of Dakota Meyer's ex Cassandra Wain divorced him because he was displaying signs of PTSD.

This information will come as no surprise to those of us who are aware that after his return from his first tour of duty in Iraq Dakota was already drinking so heavily that he was told to "knock it off" by his Platoon Sargeant. (Into The Fire, Meyer and West, pgs 41, 42)

Ms Wain is said to have been upset by Meyer's display of troubling PTSD symptoms and that she was "lonely" and felt "stuck" on Hawaii when Meyer was deployed back to Iraq almost "immediately after the marriage".

You can read the rest of the details here.
