Sarah Palin One Night Stands And Abstinence Programmes --- Joe McGinniss The Today Show Video Interview

By Kathleen

Remember the above interview between Oprah, Sarah and Bristol? At Palingates we laughed a lot at Sarah's prim (somewhat weird) hairstyle but we, like Oprah, also understood that Sarah and Bristol were setting themselves up for a fall at some point in the future. That point in time has now arrived for Sarah and the Queen of Hypocrisy is unravelling before our eyes.

Yesterday a report that can be found just about everywhere revealed that Joe McGinniss in his latest book, The Rogue, was told that an unmarried Sarah Palin (then Heath) in 1987 had a one night stand with NBA basketball star Glen Rice. The one night stand took place during a time when Sarah was supposedly in a relationship with her "high school sweetheart" Todd Palin. Patrick in an update, later disclosed that Joe McGinniss Jnr., son of the author of The Rogue, had on Facebook substantiated that the information came from Glen Rice himself. McGinniss Jnr. also said that Sarah and Glen afterwards exchanged letters and phone calls.

Ben Smith back in 2008 wrote that "Palin's personal story, and her views on personal morality, are at the core of her politics and why she was nominated, and why she'd energised the conservative base." He went on to write that she "took a hard line on a question in 2006 from the conservative Eagle Forum Alaska."

Q: Will you support funding for abstinence-until-marriage education instead of for explicit sex- education programs, school-based clinics, and the distribution of contraceptives in schools?

SP: Yes, the explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support.

The Palins clearly believe that abstinence is for other people and not for themselves. Bristol has created a profitable industry for herself out of telling other people that abstinence should be their goal when clearly the Palin/Heath women have never fully embraced the concept. And that includes Sarah who we now know had at least several sexual partners before she married. No-one should advocate abstinence as a feasible educational programme if they have not walked the walk themselves. It was hypocritical for Sarah Palin to have done so. And it is just as hypocritical for Bristol to make money from telling young people to make abstinence their goal when she knew then it was a difficult option even for herself.

ABC News reports that Sarah sent her husband in to defend her against what he says are the lies written in The Rogue. Todd Palin released a predictable statement which attacked the book as a whole and did not address the specific claims that Sarah Palin had a one night stand with Glen Rice when she was in a relationship with Todd himself or that she later, when they were married, had an affair with Brad Hanson.

“This is a man who has been relentlessly stalking my family to the point of moving in right next door to us to harass us and spy on us to satisfy his creepy obsession with my wife,” Todd Palin said via SarahPAC’s Rebecca Mansour. “His book is full of disgusting lies, innuendo, and smears. Even The New York Times called this book ‘dated, petty,’ and that it ‘chases caustic, unsubstantiated gossip."

It should be noted that Sarah herself defended Todd against the claim that he is/was allegedly involved in a prostitution ring in Anchorage. We can conclude then that defending each other against claims of infidelity or sexual indiscretions is their method of hitting back as they try desperately to push the genie back into the bottle. After all, and as the saying goes, united they stand and divided they fall. Even if it is a marriage of convenience and political expediency.

Don't forget to watch The Today Show between 7.30am and 8.00am. Joe McGinniss will appear in a pre-recorded interview with Savannah Guthrie. Joe reports that the fun has just begun.

++++UPDATE++++

I guess by "fun" Joe means further attacks. ;-)

The Today programme have released a full statement by Todd in which he calls on the fathers and husbands of America to consider what they would do if they found a creepy guy staring at their wives:

Statement from Todd Palin:
"This is a man who has been relentlessly stalking my family to the point of moving in right next door to us to harass us and spy on us. He traffics in innuendo and falsehoods. A few years ago he interviewed members of Sarah's administration for a magazine article, and afterwards they said that he was the most disingenuous and intellectual dishonest writer they'd ever dealt with. He's spent the last year interviewing marginal figures with an axe to grind in order to churn out a hit piece to satisfy his own creepy obsession with my wife. I'd ask that people consider these facts when evaluating his latest lies."

"I'd ask the fathers and husbands of America to consider our privacy when one summer day I found this guy on the deck of the rental property, just 18 feet away next door to us, staring like a creep at my wife while she mowed the lawn in her shorts, unbeknownst to her that he was prying. As well as our teenage daughters while they tried to enjoy our traditional Alaskan summer days outdoors. Joe's son told the media he advised his dad not to move from the East Coast to become our next door neighbor, but said his dad 'was just waiting for Todd to be out of the picture.' Sarah has never spoken to this intruder into our lives, our friends and family don't speak to him, so we have no idea where he would come up with content for his book. He was on our doorstep one day trying to make conversation with our son until Track cut the conversation short after discerning Joe's odd behavior, and I spoke to him one time when I saw him 18 feet away, just to find out who he was. He took that conversation and reported it to the media as me 'threatening' him."

This appeal to the husbands and fathers of America reminds me of the time that Sarah Palin entered into a war of words against David Letterman when he mistook Willow for Bristol during a joke that he made on The David Letterman Show. At the time Sarah appealed to the feminists of America to take up arms against Letterman and demand that he apologise to Willow for the joke that he made.

Clearly this statement by "Todd" is merely another Rebecca Mansour special. Not much changes in Palinlalaland -- it is the same old appeal to emotion and honor which transcends the actual crux of the issue in Joe's book which is that Sarah Palin, despite her advocacy for abstinence, engaged in sexual activities before she was married and that she also did so with another man whilst in a relationship with her high school sweetheart. Oh yes, and the man that she cheated on Todd with was black.

Here is the video of Joe's interview with Savannah Guthrie. I haven't watched it yet so please be sure to chime in with your own observations in the comments.
