The Pro-Death Party Cheers for the death of the uninsured

Both CNN and the Tea Party sank to a new low during the GOP debate Monday night, when the audience cheered at the idea of letting someone die who is without health insurance. Thankfully, the comments and Tea Party cheers were widely and roundly criticized. Repeat after me: The GOP/Tea Party is Pro-Death. PS: WTF CNN is doing co-hosting the debate with the Tea Party in the first place? The video of the Palin interview on GVS shows her totally revved up by the debate, claiming that President Obama tripled the deficit and caused the loss of 2.4 million jobs and “getting a kick out of” her claim that she is the one getting people talking about these issues.

Helping Others During Crisis/ First Revelation from Joe McGinniss Book

Marieke reminded us of the severe flooding that has taken place in the northeast. One of the under-reported outcomes (not an uncommon scenario during major floods) was the release of waste and chemicals from a flooded sewage treatment plant. This problem could have been averted, but as often is the case, protective measures were not required. Where have I heard that story before? Too many places to list… In the big picture, one of the predicted outcomes of global warming is an increase in the number of intense storms like this – we will see more of these disasters, and the question of whether we will help each other in times of need goes to the heart of our character as a nation and a world.

Marieke’s excellent post was upstaged by the revelation from Joe McGinniss’ book that Sarah Palin had a one-night stand with future NBA star Glen Rice; that she and Todd snorted cocaine from atop a 55-gallon drum, and that Sarah indeed had the long-rumored affair with Todd’s business partner Brad Hanson. This story about Ms. Abstinence-Only, Holier-Than-Thou, Family-Values went viral within hours…

The Palins and Abstinence: Do as I say, not as I do

Kathleen explores the Palins’ abstinence message against the recent revelations of Sarah Palin’s 1987 tryst with future NBA star Glen Rice. Despite Sarah’s claims that Todd Palin was her one and only love, the evidence is mounting that her hypocrisy about abstinence rivals that of her daughter, Bristol, if that is even possible. “The Palins clearly believe that abstinence is for other people and not for themselves…No-one should advocate abstinence as a feasible educational programme if they have not walked the walk themselves. This is yet another example of Republican holy-rollers’ mantra: “Do as I say, not as I do.”

$10,000 Reward if you can prove that Sarah Palin was pregnant with Trig!

Brad Scharlott has been at work behind the scenes, taking Leadfoot’s brilliant idea and turning it into a poster offering a reward for solid, irrefutable proof that Sarah Palin is indeed the birth mother of Trig. The timing of this reward offer is sure to add to the wonderful week that Sarah Palin is having, what with the revelations from and reviews of Joe McGinniss’ book. Patrick adds some interesting commentary to the post, which I hope will not be overlooked: Sarah Palin calls a LOT of people liars. A lot. How likely is it that all the people she has named are lying about her, vs. that she is lying about herself?

Shining a Light on the Sordid Side of Wasilla, AK

Patrick and Kathleen present their outstanding original research into a sordid incident of child abuse, to which Chuck Heath Sr. was connected. In the 1980s a teacher at Iditarod Elementary School in Wasilla was convicted of first and second degree sexual assault after abusing eight girls, then 8-12 years old. The school principal, Ray Carter, was repeatedly notified about the abuse but ignored it, even sending girls who reported the abuse back into the classroom of the sexual predator. The school board voted to fire him, but Chuck and others “created a lynch mob mentality” (Joe McG’s words) as they mounted a fierce campaign to get Carter reinstated. The plot thickens, as P&K show that Chuck and Ray were close friends going back to Sandpoint, Idaho and their families were close and remain so. That Chuck came to the defense of someone who facilitated sexual assault against young children says a great deal about his character, to say the least. The post includes some unresolved questions about financial dealings between the Carters, Heaths and Palins, including a loan from a living trust to Sarah and Todd.

BBT: Kudos to Patrick and Kathleen for this post; this type of investigative journalism is hard to come by among the MSM (who get paid to do this), so it is all the more remarkable coming from two global citizens half a world away from Alaska, doing this out of their own personal convictions. Deep bow.

Some Comments and Links

NomadicJoe: It is easy to laugh at her but under all that clumsiness and behind all those silly mistakes and nonsense lies a corrupt soul in desperate need of attention.

annes_123: Some of these screenshots make me chuckle but really they give me the creeps. She is a very dark, angry person.

TruGal: Angry people are drawn to her. She is their voice. That will be her legacy. Beyond that, she has added absolutely, positively (!) nothing to this country.

EbbtideMB: Hey, she always aspired to be on ESPN--now she is. [Later:] And really, it's not that big a deal--aside, of course, from the hypocrisy of her "family values" mask, and the whole abstinence until marriage facade and the race-baiting during the campaign and ever since, and the breach of journalistic ethics (remember, she "has a journalism degree and is going to straighten out the LSM") and the holier-than-thou attitude. I mean, aside from all of that, what's the big deal, right?

NJfan: I guess it's ok too that she snorts coke because it keeps her alert and she's able to hear God speak to her clearly.

Leadfoot_LA: I don't care if she slept with Jerry Rice or Glen Rice or Uncle Ben himself -- but the teabaggers will!!

JCos: Tawd reads The New York Times? Call Katie Couric!

Marieke02: You know, the snark on this blog is every bit as marvelous as the elitist emphasis on facts and logic!

Sunnyjane’s DIL: "Well, the latest is that if Sarah Palin is elected president, the first thing she'll do in office is sign a bill demanding the death penalty for suicide bombers."

Kilob: Sarah Palins rosy world is riddled with thorny make believe dreams and outright fabrications. Top named media outlets to this day continue to take this woman at her word and extend a benefit of the doubt mentality. We as bloggers not only have a right to report the truth, we have a duty!

Politicalkarma: Twin Peaks meets Deliverance......the perfect description of Wasilla.

Nin1963: Great post! It appears that all of these men were covering for each other. Like smarmy criminal pedophiles do when they swap material, I wouldn't be at all shocked to find that all of them were involved in these activities. $arah has some strange sexual boundaries and that is the main characteristic of sexually abused children when they mature into adulthood. They tend to use their sexuality as a tool or weapon to manipulate. This sordid family and their dirty secrets; pathetic.

Zane1: Holy Moly, there were over 85 registered sex offenders (April 2010) in Wasilla. I guess the population is about 7,000. I was trying to find out what the population was in 1984 when this was going on. Probably about 5,000. It's amazing that a town this small would allow this. News travels fast in small towns.

FormerRepublican linked to Laura Novak on the insurance issues around Trig’s birth.

Adrian linked to the NY Daily News: Sarah is now just an X-rated punch line.

HonestyinGov posted this excellent smackdown of Sarah Palin by Greg Mitchell of The Nation and this one from The Star (also posted by NJfan).

ProChoiceGrandma pointed out The Ultimate Liberal Fact Sheet.

Patrick linked to Phil Munger’s excellent commentary on recent books about Sarah Palin.

The Last Word (H/T to ApparentReality): We are visitors on this planet. We are here for ninety or a hundred years at the very most. During that time we must try to do something good, something useful with our lives. Try to be at peace with yourself and help others share that peace. If you contribute to other people's happiness, you will find the true goal, the true meaning of life. ~The Dalai Lama
